As you know, there has been a lot of turmoil in Colorado. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected or who have been evacuated from their homes. The pictures I have seen with glowing skies and engulfed towns are horrifying.
CharTec (@CharTec_HaaS) has members all over the world, some of them being in the Colorado area. After noticing what was going on, the teams here pulled a report to see which members we had in the area and made it our mission to contact each one of them to be sure they were ok. Offering resources if needed, we wanted to make sure each business was still operational. Our members have a CharTec Backup and Disaster Recovery appliance installed on-site at a number of their Client locations. The BDR Appliance is used to not only keep data safe from normal outages, but protects clients from natural disasters such as this. In the event of a complete site loss, their data is saved to the cloud where they can virtualize multiple servers to get back up and running. Working around the clock, our technical teams ensured that all was well with our members and their client’s data. One member has already performed a cloud migration to ensure their client would be up and running in the event of a total site loss. Furniture can be replaced, buildings can be rebuilt, even new computers can be installed…. But once data is gone, it’s gone forever.
Teams here and there are working together not only to ensure that our members and their clients are safe, but that they will be able to go back to “business as usual” despite any damage caused at the hand of the fire.
A recent study from the National Archives & Records Administration in Washington found 93% of businesses that lost their data for 10 days or more due to disaster filed for BANKRUPTCY within one year of the disaster. Most businesses that experience a catastrophic data loss will NEVER RECOVER. This means they never open their doors again.
Due to the quick work and reliability of the CharTec BDR, our members and their clients don’t have to worry about becoming a part of this statistic.
